The Kaw road was our first and last destination when we were in French Guyana. To go there, go towards Roura. This is a very well-kept road which go through the forest for 50 km, till Kaw swamp, the end of the road and the beginning of canoes. You can collect on this road, except on the left side for 10 km where there is a sanctuary.
We staid a few days in Patawa camp, about km36. Owners are entomologists : Jeannot is a specialist for Arctiidae, and Odette is a specialist for Cerambycidae. Prices are rather high, considering the lack of comfort of this old military camp, but food is excellent. You can rent there mothing equipment.
There are trails in the forest from Kaw roads, between km37 and km40, and there is no problem to collect there by day or by night.
We staid also 2 nights in "Caiman" camp, located km30. Rooms are upstairs and more "hermetic" ! It is one of the oldest camps in Guyana, and the owners Michel and Josianne are very nice.
